Great pair of shoes for the summer. Solid construction, these things feel like they'll last a LONG time. The sole is well made and easily feels more durable than many other popular boat shoes. For the price these are absolutely worth it!

Insole bunches up when wore w/o socks

      • Insole Too Loose

      Best Uses

      • To And From Golf Course

Comments about Johnston & Murphy Angler Two-Eye Boat:

Biggest gripe is the loose insole. I have to constantly put foot powder in the shoe to keep the insole from bunching up when I put the shoes on and coming out when I take them off. Generally, I wear then with shorts and without socks. If your feet are the slightest bit sweaty or damp, the loose, cushion insole slides in or out with your foot.

Comments about Johnston & Murphy Angler Two-Eye Boat:

These appear to have the quality of construction I have grown to like after 35 years of wearing J&M's. So far they have performed perfectly and I wear them with and without socks depending on the situation. The XC4 comfort works very well with my feet and I can wear them all day long with no fatigue. Although they look great, I'm not sure I would subject them to the riggers of sailing. They are much more a dress shoe than a performance shoe that one would want to get wet repeatedly and hold up to the demands of boating.

All in all they do exactly what I was looking for.

Comments about Johnston & Murphy Angler Two-Eye Boat:

I can slip these shoes on to wear with shorts, jeans, and even khakis. They are very comfortable and versatile. I can wear them to work, to the mall, to the beach, or to the ballpark. The only thing I dislike is that my feet seem to sweat more in these shoes, but wearing footies or using baby powder helps with that problem. I doubt very seriously if this is my last and only pair of these shoes!

I intend to wear this shoe on my boat. Is the shoe's sole specifically designed to be non-marking on a white gelcoat boat deck?

The Angler Two-Eye Boat Shoe has a rubber sole. It is not specifically designed to be non-marking. Personally I would not wear this sole on a white gelcoat deck.

                  Hi There-
I am wondering about the "One-Way water dispersion holes" within this shoe? How does it work? Presumably, they can't be "one-way", but would allow water ingress as well? Then, of course, they would also allow drainage...(which would be fine really), But "one-way"?! Really?! Please explain! Because what an amazing feature if it is!
                  Cheers-
                  Marty
Asked on 4/10/2013 by Marty from Hobart, Tasmania - Australia

                  1 answer

                  • A:

The patented H2O drainage technology is located in the sole of the shoe. The sole contains a small cavity that allows water to accumulate if the shoe fills with water. As the pressure from the weight of the wearer presses on the top of the cavity, it forces the water through three one way valves. As the weight of the wearer is taken off the shoe during a step, the valve is forced closed preventing water from entering the cavity and the shoe. The stepping action actually acts as a pump to rid the shoe of water.

                  • A:

Yes, there is good reason to believe this shoe will work for wear without socks because reviews on the Internet indicate other shoes of this same brand are good for wear without socks.
