Comments about Johnston & Murphy CLASSIC TRENCH:

I bought this coat in the brown color and I use it to go to work, church, and general use when the weather is a little wet and cool. My long trench coat needed repairs, so I bought this one to see me through. I found it to be warmer than I expected with the lining in it. I can wear it from the 20's F, 30's F, and 40's F withought feeling uncomfortable outside for long time periods. It has grown to be one of my favorite coats to wear over the last few months. It is easier to wear in the car as compared to a full length trench coat.
I plan to make a trip to The Netherlands in a few weeks and plan to take this coat alone as a good "all purpose coat" that can be worn in almost any weather and for any purpose (dress up or down).

Comments about Johnston & Murphy CLASSIC TRENCH:

I was looking for something to wear to the office on those days when the weather's cool and maybe a bit wet (about four months of the year here in Toronto). This is a versatile coat with a removable liner that's well made, looks good, and suits the conservative environment in which I work (financial industry): I can wear this with shirt & tie and a sweater. It's a great balance of warm and dry and proof against wind versus a bulky leather coat over a blazer or suit jacket.

Also, I'm 6'5" and have a hard time finding jackets that are the right dimensions. This fits perfectly.

P.S. Johnston & Murphy hit just the right note with the customer service while shopping.

      • Q:

I am trying to figure out the size to select for the Classic Trench. I am in between your specs for Medium and Large size. My waist size is 33 - 34, which is your medium, but my sleeve length is 34/35 and neck size is 16 1/2.
The trench/rain coat that I presently own is a 40R.

        Thanks.

To fit more comfortably, I would recommend wearing a large in the Classic Trench. You may of course have a local tailor make the appropriate adjustments to the coat to ensure accurate fit.

I just want to make sure, "The coat that will see you through the seasons" means all 4 seasons.... Including Winter in the Northeast, right? Do you have a temperature comfort range for this coat? Will it keep me warm during a snow fall?

        Thanks for the info.
