Comments about Johnston & Murphy SHOE CREAMS:
This shoe cream is a must to protect and maintain the appearance of your investment. It's very easy to use and does not build up like polish. Being retired military I know a little bit about that. The sponge applicator fills with a squeeze on the tube and spreads the polish evenly over the shoe. Let it dry and buff to a nice shine. I don't use anything but this cream on my Johnston & Murphy shoes.

Q:What color cream do you suggest for the Burgundy LaSalle slip-ons?Asked on 6/30/2014 by ProfBiglow from Jacksonville, FL
A:You can go with Cordovan (which is burgundy), or the neutral shoe cream, which goes on clear.Answered on 7/2/2014 by Chiyo from JM
Q:Does this product also act as a shoe polish, or can one polish their shoes with a wax polish after applying this? Also, if one were to use wax polish on top of this product, should they use the neutral color (if their wax polish is pigmented) to avoid putting two colors on their leather?Asked on 6/26/2014 by David
A:The Shoe Cream does act as a shoe polish, it is actually less of a mess to deal with and easier to apply.Answered on 6/27/2014 by Melissa from J&M
Q:How much shoe cream is typically needed per shoe, and how often should shoes be treated with normal wear?Asked on 6/25/2014 by David
A:It doesn't take that much. There is a sponge applicator under the cap. Squeeze it and put in on the shoes. I just make sure that the entire outer skin of the shoes and the sole and heal are covered. Let dry , brush off the excess cream and buff to a high gloss. It works wonders. Looks goodAnswered on 6/26/2014 by Anonymous
A:You do not need a lot of shoe cream to take care of your shoes. Just dab a little on our horse hair brushes, and rub it into the top of the shoe, and repeat all around the shoe until well blended. Treat your shoes every several months, or as necessary.Answered on 6/27/2014 by Chiyo from JM

Q:I recently purchased a pair of HOLBROOK CAP TOE - Brown Calfskin/Tan Scotchgrain 20-5792. I am new to shoe cleaning, can you please tell me what color creams I should use? Because there are 2 colors on the shoe, should I buy 2 different types of color?
I know there is the balm and protector, in what order should I apply these to my shoes? And how often do I apply them? What does the balm do? and protector shoe care? Will using any of these product ruin the shoes?
Thanks!Asked on 3/5/2014 by Alex
A:Thank you for shopping with Johnston & Murphy!
The 3 basic steps to cleaning shoes is Clean, Polish, and Protect.
1. Before you apply any polish or cream, use a soft cloth to brush off any dirt and dust off of the shoe and get a clean surface. For more heavy soil, use a little ivory soap and a slightly damp cloth.
2. Apply a very small amount of cream to the shoe with a soft brush or cloth and then use a horsehair brush to shine the shoe. Since your shoes are two tone, I would recommend our neutral shoe cream.
It will give a shine to the shoes without worry of discoloration.
3. Apply our leather protectant to your shoes to help keep scuffs and other wear marks from developing. Our leather balm can be used if you find that your shoes are getting heavy creases or worn areas.
None of our shoe care products will adversely affect the quality of a J&M shoe. You need only care for your shoes once a month or once every two months depending on wear. As long as regular care is given, hard wear should not develop and your shoes should easily last over a decade with light to moderate use.Answered on 3/8/2014 by Deane (Dean) from J&M Direct
