Q:I'm looking for a dress shoe built on a straight last. Is this so constructed? If not, could you please suggest one or more alternatives (preferably similarly styled)?Asked on 5/29/2012 by Robert
A:The Bal Oxford Straight Tip is made on a combination last.Answered on 6/13/2012 by Leslie from J&M
Q:In the picture the Bal Oxford looks very sleek and sharp. I have been told by your representatives that the Bal Oxford looks like a very refined version of the Crown Aristocraft. Some of this can be due to the higher grade leather the custom select line uses. Can you please comment. I want to make sure the picture on line was not air brushed to make the shoe look nicer than what the shoes really are. A competitor of yours is notorious for doing this and I want to make sure the shoes looks like what's in the picture, being that we can't see it in a store.Asked on 4/12/2012 by Ferd from Atlanta, GA
A:Our photos are not airbrushed, however we would always recommend a high-end shoe polish to maintain a sleek and sharp look.Answered on 4/14/2012 by Community Answer from None
Q:Can you tell me more about the construction of the shoe? What kind of heel does it have? Is it possible to order it with a leather heel with a rubber dovetail insert? What kind of shank (steel, fiberglass, or cottage)? It appears to be 270 degree Goodyear welted, is that correct?Asked on 4/20/2011 by Anonymous
A:The Bal Oxford Straight Tip features a natural cork midsole that offers support and cushioned comfort, while the recessed channel-stitched leather sole and rubber heel provide durability. This shoe features a rubber heel that cannot be customized and a fiberglass shank. This shoe is Goodyear welted.Answered on 5/25/2011 by Amanda from J & M
Q:Is this shoe made on the same last as the Crown Aristocraft collection? Would the fit be the same as Crown Aristocraft, although the Custom Select use the trampoline system?Asked on 3/24/2011 by Hard to Fit from Atlanta, GA
A:The Custom Select shoes are not made on the same last as the Crown Aristocraft collection; however these collections do have a similar fit.Answered on 4/12/2011 by Amanda from J & M
Q:How do I know the shoe will fit if I cannot first try it on?Asked on 3/5/2011 by Jeff from Falls Church, VA
A:Custom Selects are made to fit your foot. In order to know the correct size you will need to be measured. If you are interested in the Custom Selects we do suggest you visit a Johnston & Murphy store to be fitted properly.Answered on 3/28/2011 by Leslie from J&M

Q:Is this shoe made on the same last as the Hyde Park II? How does it differ from the Hyde Park other than custom sizing is available?Asked on 11/25/2010 by Alan from Atlanta, GA
Q:How does the leather on this shoe compare to the leather on the Hyde Park II (which I already have)? Also, is the same "last" used for your custom select models as for your Hyde Park/Aldrich models.Asked on 10/6/2010 by john from hawaii

This shoe will last as long as any other shoe sold from the Johnston and Murphy Company, as pride and craftsmanship are put into each and every shoe produced.Answered on 4/3/2012 by Community Answer from None
