Squeaky Soles - Embaressing

By Tom

from NYC

Comments about Johnston & Murphy CLAYTON CAP TOE:

The bottom of the shoe squeaks like creaky wood - Embarrassing. Likely due to the cheaper Bond Welding, which is Glued on soles. My cobbler can't figure out a fix and i just can't wear these shoes!

Comments about Johnston & Murphy CLAYTON CAP TOE:

I bought the black ones a year and a half ago and had to go buy the brown ones a few months after. I've been getting compliments from day one. Even random people will stop me and tell me how much they like them. They are the first pair of dress shoes that don't hurt my feet at all even after 12 hour work days. They've worn very well, and still look great. I plan on buying a 3rd pair next month. I wish they had a black cap toe boot Clayton. You won't regret purchasing these. Your feet will thank you as will your ego from all the compliments!

Don't think twice to buy this pair of shoes.
They are made good.
J&M are best in the industry.

I wore another brand, and my feet was paining for all the time..until I had that in my feet.

These shoes have great padding in sole.
I love it.

Comments about Johnston & Murphy CLAYTON CAP TOE:

I first bought the blue and burgundy pair. Initially, they were unbearable across the front and I considered returning them. Unfortunately, only the black and mahogany come in a wide. But after having them stretched a half size in the width, they felt as good as they looked. I was so impressed with the look and feel of this shoe I ultimately ended up buying the black and mahogany as well. I didn't even consider buying them in the wide for fear that they would be too wide. I just took them to my local shoe repair and had them stretched just as i did the other two pair. I am very happy with my purchase!

This shoe came in more narrow than I'm used to with JM shoes. I love the style, but it doesn't come in a wide, so I'm trying to stretch the shoe.

I bought these in Houston last year. They satisfy my 2 main requirements for shoes - stylish and comfortable. Along with that they seem to have made it through the brunt of a Canadian winter with nothing more than a few polishes and some leather protectant applied every few weeks.

        • Q:

This shoe is incredible, however I typically wear your J&M wide shoes. As this shoe is not offered in widths, would it be possible to break the shoe in to my foot's width? If not, would any type of shoe care product (i.e. oil/spray) help to widen the shoe?

            A:

Unfortunately, as you stated, the Clayton Cap Toe is not available in wide widths. You may want to consider going up one half size from what you would normally wear. This may provide the width you need without adding to much length.
