...need to add an inch clearance so all JM Dress shoe's fit...I purchased 2 @ packs and with the bad drilling ended up with so many split wood pieces that I could only assemble 3 racks.

Will buy 2 more 2 packs in an effort to end up with 6 racks...wish me luck

These racks were easy to assemble and withstood our move to another home. We have had no problems with them. They keep the shoes organized, clean, and off of the floor.

Comments about Johnston & Murphy STACKING SHOE RACKS:

The end of the wood joints were split upon arrival. It looks like getting a good one is hit or miss with the design/quality of the product. It's a nice product overall if you get one in proper condition. It seems like the drilling done at the factory weakens the ends of the wood.

Comments about Johnston & Murphy STACKING SHOE RACKS:

Pros: cedar smells great, easy to assemble

Cons: These "stackable" racks are too small to hold dress shoes (size 11, from J&M) when stacked. They need to be 2 inches taller, to allow enough clearance to fit a pair of shoes in all but the top rack. The wood smells great, but is of very low density, giving the racks a cheap feel even though they are 100% wood.

No, but very easy to put together. Just some wood peg pins. Fine shoe rack, very stable. Have one from Bed Bath & Beyond that pales in comparison to this one.

No, very easy to assemble, however I caution you to be gentle with the
assembly as you could (relatively) easily split the wood where the pegs need
to be put into the holes.

                  Hello Tom,
I have two sets of these shoe racks. Both of my shoe racks have "Johnston and Murphy" written on the badging. I purchased my shoe racks at a Johnston and Murphy store in Jacksonville, FL. The racks are easy to assemble and they keep my Johnston and Murphy shoe collection very organized! Oh, and my they keep my closet organized, too!

You can stack as many of these racks on top of each other as you would like, the website states you can stack three or more racks on top of each other.
